What is a Guardian ad Litem?
Guardians ad Litem provide a voice for abused and neglected children. Every year hundreds of children are thrown into the Greenville County Family Court system through no fault of their own. These children, who are placed in the custody of the Department of Social Services, need strong advocates to protect their rights. That’s the job of specially-trained volunteers within the Greenville County Guardian ad Litem Program.
What does the Friends of the Guardian ad Litem Program do?
The Greenville County Guardian ad Litem Program recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers to advocate for the children in the custody of the Department of Social Services. The Friends of the Greenville County Guardian ad Litem Program provides funding to support the training and supervision of these dedicated volunteers, and also for special needs of the children not otherwise covered by DSS.
