The Friends of Greenville County Guardian ad Litem Board has launched a couple of resources to benefit our GAL kiddos. GALs are invited to stop by the conference room across from the GAL office and pick up a book or two to take to the children you’re serving, courtesy of the Friends board.
GALs can use the form linked above to request financial support for children to participate in extracurricular activities that might otherwise not be possible for the family to support or for the purchase of educational or enriching items that would be beneficial.to a child or family.

- Therapeutic Foster Care – Care for children and adolescents with a wide range of needs. Foster parents receive specialized training to care for children with significant emotional or behavioral issues and have constant support available to them.
- Medically Fragile Foster Care – Helps children with significant medical conditions avoid institutionalization and gives them a chance to grow up in loving homes.
South Carolina Youth Advocate Program:
- Community-Based Services – Support services that include therapeutic activities and treatment interventions provided to a youth and/or family with behavioral health, emotional and special needs. Services include behavior modification, psychosocial rehabilitation, family support services and crisis management services.
- Mental Health Services – Diagnostic assessments, individual therapy services and family therapy services.
- Transportation Services – Provide transportation to youth and their families to and from therapy services, court hearings, family visits and pre-placement visits. - Emergency Shelter & Advocacy – Available to survivors and their children who are fleeing from domestic violence. Residents can typically stay up to 60 days in the shelter. - Homeless shelters – Miracle Hill operates four Rescue Missions in the Upstate. The Greenville Rescue Mission serves adult men; Spartanburg Rescue Mission and Cherokee County Rescue Missions serve men, women and mothers with young children; Shepherd’s Gate serves women and mothers with young children. In addition, when the temperature drops below 40 degrees, the Rescue Missions open their cold weather shelters for anyone in need of a safe place to stay.
